4th annual Dirt Gold Cup Championship Extravaganza Ends 2011 Racing Season at I-96 Speedway
Lake Odessa, Michigan (Monday, September 19th, 2011): I-96 Speedway returns to action THIS Saturday, September 24th with the running of the 4th annual Dirt Gold Cup Championship Extravaganza! After taking the last three weekends off to allow for other area facilities to conduct their 2011 season finales, it's the Lake Odessa, Michigan speed plants' turn THIS Weekend!
Headlining the card will be the fire breathing, high-flying, winged warriors of the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP as the Grand Rapids, Michigan based series will take on the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked dirt oval. Current Series Points Leader, Dustin Daggett, from near-by Portland, Michigan, who is also a former two-time series champion and the all-time Wins leader in the series, headlines a stellar field of Winged Sprint Cars who will invade Lake Odessa, Michigan.
Daggett's popular red #2x Miles Petroleum Group machine will have stiff competition in the form of former two-time Series Champion and former three-time I-96 Speedway Track Champion, Brett Mann, who's now behind the wheel of the familiar white #3w Sprinter owned by 2010 Series Champion Car Owner, Jim Wohlfiel. Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame driver, Ken Mackey in his familiar maroon #25m Mackey's Body Shop sprinter will also be in the hunt for the win as will another former I-96 Track Champion, Robert Huisken as the Marne, Michigan veteran will be steering his black #46 Glen's Gases & Welding Supplies machine.
In addition, the tracks remaining three weekly divisions within the UMP DIRTcar Racing Series, the Lane Automotive UMP Modifieds, Renegade Racing Fuels & Lubricants UMP Street Stocks, and Jim's Auto Body of Portland UMP Sport Compacts will all settle their 2011 Track Championship and Rookie of the Year title chases respectively.
Coming into the 2011 Season Finale; 82 Jacob Poel - UMP Modifieds, 65 Bill Brandt Jr. - UMP Street Stocks, and 14 Rick Peck - UMP Sport Compacts, are the current points leaders respectively while 77 Josh Crane - UMP Modifieds, 67 Carlind Forsythe - UMP Street Stocks, 15 Kyle Brigance - UMP Sport Compacts 18 years old and Over, and 74 Jordan King - UMP Sport Compacts 17 years old and Under, are the freshman points leaders coming into the weekend.
For Saturday, September 24th, the Pit Gates open at 3:00p.m. Grandstand Gates open at 5:00p.m., with Practice (Hot Laps) starting at 6:00p.m. Then after Pre-Race Ceremonies / Invocation / National Anthem(s), Racing begins promptly at 7:00p.m. Ticket Prices are: Adults (13-61): $15.00, Seniors (62 and Over): $10.00, Children (6-12): $8.00, Kids (5 and Under): FREE. Family Pass (A Family Pass will get 2 Adults and 2 Children into the races. Once inside, the Kid's Club is Free for the Kids!): $35.00. Finally, Pit Passes: $25.00.
Camping will be Available beginning on Friday, September 23rd and will be FREE the entire weekend! In addition, on Saturday, September 24th, Miller Lite, the Official Beer of I-96 Speedway will be Available all night long for only $1.00! The Three 2011 Track Champions will get $0.01 Beer throughout the evening at the end of the night! Then after the races, a band "To Be Announced" will be playing well into the evening in celebration of the end of the 2011 Racing Season in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
