Huisken & Falbe Racing: Team up Against ALS

(Update 9/9/2009) Van Purchased for Family!!!!!

Dear Friends

Racers Rick Huisken and Ed Falbe from the West Mich area along with a host of good help took it upon themselves to try and put their resources in racing together to help out people with ALS(Lou Gerigs Disease). They both have ties to families greatly affected by this horrible disease. With the help of Winston Speedway they were given the season ending show to raise money and awareness for ALS. The show will be held Sept 18th +19th, 2009. Along with this event Arena Racing has put together a raffle for a full ride for this season in an Arena car with the proceeds going to West Mich Chapter for ALS.

They are going to promote exposure to the companies or people who help us with this, to the best of their abilities. Tom Sprague has agreed to donate $2 of every ticket sold as well as additional dollars raised. They are trying to get companies to sponsor the prize money for particular races and in turn that money will go towards helping ALS. The race will be named on behalf of companies name. The sponsors will be listed on the West Michigan Racing website as well as other means of exposure. Any form of sponsorship will help. Adanced Tooling has agreed to sponsor for $1000There is a plan to have a silent auction for hats and various autographed articles given to us by Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon plus the raffle for a season ride in the Arena Car Racing Series.

Please make this benefit a success and be generous in these trying times. There is one family living in Comstock Park they will be helping. (Photo above)Josh spent his senior year in high school caring for his mother who has ALS. Father has been out of the picture since he was 2 years old. He would wake up in the morning and get her breakfast and place her in her wheel chair, go to school and come home for lunch for more care. Through this Josh still managed to be class president. This is who inspired them. Josh was a given a job at Advanced Tooling Systems to help with the famlies finacial needs and go make sure he carries through with the bright future he deserves. (They are trying to get their old Ford Van with a lift replaced with a newer one. They have about 180,000 miles on the current one and it is junk.)

Final Points Will Be Posted Soon...
It will take a day or so while the points for the season are gone over to ensure accuracy. As soon as they are forwarded to me, I'll have them posted.

In the better late than never report, Saturday night saw Brad Roberts finally put an end to his bad luck as he claimed the Engine Pro IMCA Mod feature over a hard charging Joe Fowler. Joe Pomeroy out did the local boys in the first of three open shows in the Street Stocks and Tim Wood bested the rest as he won the Pro Truck feature. Barry Rinard outlasted Chaney Newland to bring home the Pro Stock feature win while Gaven Parks beat back Richard Melton for the win in the Flinn Stocks.

The Sunday night version of the Labor Day week saw Josh Loomis lead all 15 laps on his way to a very impressive win over Mike Wilburne, and Gary Buskirk in the Smokers Club Street Stock division while Wade Witherspoon won the Soaring Eagle Casino Outlaw Late Model feature despite a strong run that came up just shy by Frank Seder. Dave Hilliker came back from the back to finish third. In the Kentucky Fried Chicken Late Models, nobody had a thing for Zach Olger as he lapped the field up to fifth place in an impressive win. The 2009 Late Model champ Jay Van Dyke came home second, followed by Carl Reis, Brian Nickerson, and Tom Dusen.

In the Port City Pro Stocks, Vern Buskirk came out triumphant as he beat back Jimmy Hale Jr., Ryan Kent, Derek Schestag, and Chaney Newland. The Races On The Web Flinn Stock feature was taken by Charles Peterson with Gaven Parks and Bob Whitcomb not far behind. The final event of the weekend was the Port City Pro Trucks which was taken by Richard Neiman, followed by Gordie Snyder and Tim Wood.
