Track Worker Injured at Hartford

(Post From MSTRC Message Board)

Friday Night, a track worker at Hartford Motor Speedway was critically injured when he was thrown from the safety truck. The truck was entering the track after a wreck during the mod feature, got a little side ways and hopped the top of the berm, throwing the man from the back of the pick up. He landed awkwardly and was rushed to intensive care where I understand he is likely extreme critical condition on life support and is in grave condition.

It reminded me that last Saturday at Owosso Speedway a racer pulled up to the flag stand to "have words" with a track worker and squeezed him within 12 inches of the wall. When he peeled out to go back into the pits (where he went about 45 mph through the pits) he nearly crushed the guy between his car and the wall.

Please folks... be careful out there. Safety & Track workers have one of the more dangerous, less appreciated jobs at any race track and are woefully under compensated for the commitment and dedication they give racing. Please give these guys a break when you are out there.. they are just doing their job. As a driver, remember, its a hobby and its suppose to be fun. Save your emotion till you are off the track and out of your car. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be out there.

And if you are a track and/or safety crew worker, please be careful out there.

The balance of the evenings racing card was cancelled due to the severe nature of this accident and UMP Modifieds & UMP Factory Stock A Mains were postponed until next weekend, August 7th.

VanDoorn gets New (Old) Sponsor

MAGIC TRANSPORTATION JOINS KAOS MOTORSPORTS
FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2009 SEASON

Kaos Motorsports is proud to announce that Grand Rapids, Michigan based Magic Transportation has agreed to sponsor the #61 Champion Racing Association car of Johnny VanDoorn for the remainder of the 2009 season. Magic Transportation will be the primary sponsor on VanDoorn’s car at the Berlin Raceway on August 8th as well as one other race to be determined and an associate sponsor for all events. Kaos Motorsports owner Jim TenBrink is excited to add another company to the team’s roster of partners. “Being able to add Magic Transportation to our list of partners says we are heading in the right direction” TenBrink said. “Magic was with Johnny when he finished second in points in 2007 and we hope to move them one spot higher this season” TenBrink added.

VanDoorn, currently leading the CRA Super Series points standings is also excited to have Magic Transportation back on his car. “Magic started with me back in 2002 when I ran on dirt tracks across Michigan, so it is awesome to be able to welcome them back. They were the sole sponsor on my late model when I won my first pavement race at Berlin-after that win is when things started falling in place as far as my racing career. I owe Magic Transportation for helping me get to this point-and I hope to reward them with a championship this season” VanDoorn said.

ABOUT MAGIC TRANSPORTATION:
Magic Transportation is a Grand Rapids, MI based flatbed carrier with locations in Ohio, Indiana and Alabama. Our fleet capabilities range from standard flatbed, Conestoga covered flats, single drop, double drops, extendable trailers and heavy haul multi-axle equipment.
