Jeep VanWormer News: June 4th
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 4, 2009
Jeep Van Wormer Targets Eldora this Weekend Following Hartford and Florence
(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team closed out the busy month of May with a pair of Dirt Late Model events in the states of Michigan and Kentucky. On Friday night, May 29, the Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, Michigan played host to a $5,000 to win O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series (ASLMS) show. Jeep ran fourth in heat race action and was on the move early in the 40-lap main event. He was up inside of the top five when another competitor wrecked in front of him, leaving the Pinconning, Michigan native nowhere to go. Jeep unfortunately made heavy contact with the spinning racecar and the damage inflicted to his #55 caused him to retire from the race in the twenty-first position.
A day later, the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky played host to another pivotal Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event. The annual 'Ralph Latham Memorial' was held at the Cincinnati area venue and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Jeep ran eighth in his competitive heat race, but got up on the wheel to win his B-Main. After starting seventeenth on the grid in the 50-lap A-Main, Jeep was able to work his way by a couple of cars en route to a fifteenth place performance. He now finds himself twelfth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings. You can view complete results from both races online at www.dirtondirt.com.
The #55 squad will now focus their attention on the highest paying Dirt Late Model race of the year. The famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will hold the 15th Annual 'Dream 100' on Friday and Saturday, June 5-6. The winner of the 100-lap crown jewel event on Saturday evening will pocket $100,000. Jeep has made five 'Dream 100' starts in his career, with his best finish being a tenth place effort back in 2003. You can view additional information concerning the weekend festivities at the "Big E" by pointing your web browser to www.eldoraspeedway.com.
Be sure to visit Jeep's souvenir trailer on souvenir row throughout the 'Dream 100' weekend at Eldora to pick up the latest #55 swag. Jeep will be driving his all-gray Spider car from last year's 'World 100' and will have diecast replica cars to match at the souvenir trailer. These diecast cars will be sold exclusively at the souvenir trailer and will not last long!

West Michigan Racing Community Message
Hi guys. Yesterday was a rough day. Kevin Buskirk has been laid to rest. His family can now begin the greiving process. There are so many things to worry about as Kevin was a working father and now that he gone so is his income. It's impossible for me to imagine losing my husband and the the father of my kids, let alone to have to worry about financial issues such as how to pay the mortgage and the bills without him as well. We are really trying to help this family, and I know that times are tough for everyone right now, but I think it would be great if we could all pull together to help a fellow racing family in there time of need. They have not asked for anything. This is not something that they have implied that they want in any way, but we know it is a situation that needs attention. Our world of Outlaws show bought in thousands of people that never met Kevin or his family. It brought drivers to our track that are sometimes even difficult to get an autograph from, but when they heard about Kevin's family, they all opened their hearts and helped to raise an almost $3,000 in just a 10 minute walk through the grandstands. I would hate to think that perfect strangers to Kevin's family could out do the people who knew him and spent every Saturday in his presence. We are still looking for donations for the silent auction. ANYTHING would be great. Autographed t-shirts, posters, anything at all. If you do have anything to donate please contact me at 616 642-0555 or fax me at 616 642-0525 so I can get a sheet made up for the item. Kevin's family will all be their this Saturday. They are all going to attempt to get back into their jobs. I can only imagine how hard it is going to be for Brandi to sit in that score tower and look down at the empty spot where he husband should be. If you can not donate, perhaps you can stop into the pit concession stand and offer Shannah your condolances.
Thank you
Sarah Mouch
