Kevin Harvick in a Port City Racecar Chassis

Port City Racing out of Muskegon continues to prove they are one of the top chassis builders in the country.

Former Daytona 500 winner and this year’s Bud Shootout winner, Kevin Harvick is planning to compete in this year’s Snowball Derby in December at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL. Harvick told Speed51.com on Friday night in Ontario, California that he has just taken delivery of a new Port City straight-rail chassis for the Derby. “We pick one race a year,” said Harvick. “Last year we did the Oxford 250 (which he won) and this year we want to do the Snowball Derby.” Harvick drives Chevrolets for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Bean Falbe Race Report: 2/15/2009

Yesterday morning I started my day off at the hospital with Heidi. I thought maybe it was baby day!! We arrived at the arena a little late. We had a couple of issues in tech which only allowed us two practice sessions. The car felt pretty good. We qualified well, inside the top 5. That started us 7th in the a main. When the green flag dropped we went backwards. The car just had no power. We finished out the race but were laps down. During the intermission we changed the fuel pump. It seemed to clear out for a minute in the last chance race but the motor just laid down again. We had a rough night but will work on things and be back next time. See you at the races........#08

Local youths to take advantage of lowered age limits at Berlin

Youngsters ages 14-16 will be allowed to compete at Berlin Raceway this summer. I feel this is not only a great idea for the young aspiring driver but also for area track promotors. I call it the "Little League" effect. Have you ever watched who goes to a little league games. Aunts, uncles, cousins neighbors and friends are all part of the crowd. The fans these young drivers bring in will more than pay for their winnings. It is a win/win situation for all involved. It was a great decision made by new Berlin Raceway owner Mike Blackmer. I feel he will reap the rewards along with these young drivers. For a look at the article click on the link below.
