Jeep Van Wormer Sweeps ALMS Weekend in Ohio; Resumes Lucas Oil Tour

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his Iron Motorsports team continued their stellar 2009 racing season last weekend with a pair of Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS) victories in the Buckeye State of Ohio! On Friday night, April 17, Jeep ran second in his heat race at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio before rolling off eighth on the grid for the 30-lap main event. The Pinconning, Michigan native stormed through the field at Attica to take the point on lap nineteen and never looked back en route to a $2,000 triumph over Wayne Maffett, Jr., Rusty Schlenk, Matt Miller, and Casey Noonan.

The dirt-slinging action quickly turned to the famed high-banks of the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Saturday evening, April 18 for another $2,000 to win ALMS show. Jeep paced the stout field during qualifying, as he earned fast time honors with a lap of 15.958 seconds. Following a fourth place effort in heat race action, he started the 25-lap A-Main from the fifteenth position. As always, Jeep put on a great show for the fans in attendance at the "Big E" and drove his #55 Rocket entry to the lead in only twelve laps. At the conclusion of the race, Jeep had picked up his fourth checkered flag of the year over Scott James, Brian Ruhlman, Brad Neat, and Jon Henry. You can view complete results from both Attica and Eldora by accessing www.americanlatemodelseries.com.

"Everything is just clicking for us right now," exclaimed a pumped-up Van Wormer this week. "This Rocket car is bad fast and I can't wait to get a new one next week before Paducah. The victory at Attica last Friday was nice, but it is always so special to me to win at Eldora. I really think we have something for them in June and September, but a lot of things have to go your way to win a big race at Eldora. Right now, we are just taking things one race at a time and hopefully we can have a strong weekend at Bedford and Hagerstown.

" Next up for the #55 team will be a trip to the Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania on Friday, April 24 and the Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday, April 25. Both events will pay $10,000 to the winner and will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Jeep comes into Bedford/Hagerstown ninth in the LOLMDS point standings and is leading the Rookie of the Year battle.
