ASCS SOD Sprints Kick off at Crystal Saturday Night

2009 ASCS SOD SEASON OPENS SATURDAY AT CRYSTAL

(April 27, 2009) – The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP kicks off its 30th season of competition Saturday night at Crystal Motor Speedway in Crystal, Michigan.The Crystal event marks a return to where ASCS SOD held its first event in 1980 and 102 events overall over the past 30 seasons.Defending ASCS SOD champion Brett Mann along with former champions Tim Norman, Dain Naida, Dustin Daggett, and Steve Irwin are all expected to compete while Ben Rutan, Ryan Grubaugh, Gregg Dalman, and a large group of other drivers begin their quest for their first championship.

The 2009 season opener will see some new drivers taking on the series and a few returning to competition. Veteran driver Robert Huisken returns to the series while newcomers Aaron Smith and Nic Rogers look to increase their involvement with the series during the 2009 season. They join an already strong cast of drivers looking for the 2009 ASCS SOD point title.Practice begins at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30. Adult tickets are $12.00 while kids 4-11 are $4.00.

The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is in its 30th season of competition. Twenty-two point paying races are on the calendar with three special non-point races making up the 25 event schedule contested throughout Michigan, Ohio, and into Canada.The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to nearly 100 different tracks throughout 25 states and Canada in 2009.
