My Best and Worst of List: "Worst Wreck Witnessed"

Cody Weisner's #16 Car Smashed Facing the wrong way after impact
Harvey Gould's Rolled over #55

In 2007 Sportsman Driver #16 Cody Wiesner was stalled on the frontstretch right in front of the flagstand at Winston Motor Speedway when Harvey Gould hit him at full speed. Wiesner's rear clip was in the back seat area while Gould’s car deflected and rolled over. It was a scarry moment but both drivers were OK.

The Other incident that comes to mind is watching Twin Lake MI, Modified driver #84 Tim Tuttle in 2006 hit the end of the wall at Thunderbird going into turn three. The impact was so great the frame twisted and the fuel cell came flying out of the car. To the delight of fans Tuttle was also OK.

  1. Opening night at Potomac Speedway 2007. Hornet feature. I started outside front row. I fell to third in the first Lap a two guys got in front and the middle of the back straight the guy on the bottom is leaning on the guy on top trying to run him into the fence. All of the sudden the guy on the low sides car turns sideways catches a rut and snaps into a flip. I saw his floorboards twice and I was three car lengths back. the guys behind us further said it flipped 6 times. Driver had his shoulder belts loose and his helmet not strapped on so he was flopping around bare headed in the car. He got cut out of the car, a helicopter ride to the hospital and had a broken neck and arm. he's lucky he didn't end up dead. It was the single worst wreck injury wise I have seen in over 25 years at the races. Never seen a death thankfully. Knock on wood. Scared me pretty good.
