Checkered Flags: Dustin Daggett's domination at Crystal Motor Speedway continues
By Steve Kaminski
The Grand Rapids Press
Most tracks across the state are opening up, and I want to honor drivers for their successes.
I will be saluting five Michigan drivers each week, and I'm looking for your input. Drop me an e-mail at stevekracer@aol.com and tell me about a driver who is excelling. I'm looking for feedback from track promoters as well as fans and drivers.
Most tracks run either Friday or Saturday night, so please send the information by Monday evening. Please include the driver’s name, hometown and highlights, and attach a photo if you have one.
If a driver makes the list one week, then that driver won’t be eligible for it the next. No one can go back-to-back. This will enable us to shine the spotlight on more drivers.
Here are this week's honorees:
Dustin Daggett, Portland
Daggett won Saturday night’s 25-lap SOD Sprints on Dirt feature race at Crystal Motor Speedway, giving him his 10th Crystal victory in his last 11 starts dating back to September of 2006. Daggett was voted last year's MLive.com Finish Line Driver of the Year.
Travis Eddy, Midland
Berlin Raceway debuted its Modified division Saturday night, and Eddy won the 50-lap feature. He also won the April 24 feature at Auto City. Eddy is the son of Mike Eddy, the former American Speed Association standout.
David Grega, Fruitport
Grega won both Bomber division feature races at Winston Speedway on Saturday night after taking top honors at Thunderbird Raceway on Friday. Grega already has five wins at the two tracks combined this season.
Eric Lee, Clinton Township
Flat Rock Speedway’s two-time defending Late Model champion opened the 2010 season by winning Saturday night’s 50-lap feature race.
Terry Senneker Jr., Wayland
Captured the checkered flag in Saturday night’s Intimidator 100 Late Model feature race at Kalamazoo Speedway. Senneker is back racing for the Holland-based Terry Gentry Racing team.
