Jeep Van Wormer Enjoys Strong Southern Weekend; Heads to Florence!
(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 Dirt Late Model team were in action last weekend (April 3-4) in the Peachtree State of Georgia and the Volunteer State of Tennessee. Their doubleheader weekend kicked off on Friday night at the Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia with a $7,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event. Jeep finished fourth in his competitive heat race, which enabled him to start fourteenth on the grid for the 40-lap main event. The Pinconning, Michigan driver sported a great racecar during the A-Main at Screven, as he climbed inside of the top five before settling for a strong seventh place outing. Jeep currently finds himself ninth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
On Saturday after the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show at the Swainsboro (GA) Raceway was washed out, the Iron Motorsports team quickly trekked north to the historic Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee. The O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) sanctioned the annual 'Shamrock 50' and a $5,000 top prize was up for grabs. Jeep ran second in his B-Main to advance into the 50-lap feature event. After starting fourteenth once again in the A-Main, Jeep pointed his #55 Rocket entry towards the front of the stout field and passed ten cars en route to an impressive fourth place effort behind only winner Billy Moyer, Dale McDowell, and Chris Madden. The #55 team will now focus their efforts on the annual running of the 'Spring 50' at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky tomorrow night, April 11. The Cincinnati area venue will host the unsanctioned event, which boasts a $5,000 winner's check. To learn more about this race, please point your web browser to http://www.florencespeedway.com/.
