KBR Development Heads To Nashville For Inaugural Southern Super Series Race With Brian Campbell
Aggressive 2013 Schedule for Michigan
Veteran (Special from KBR Development)
Grand Rapids, MI
(April 4, 2013) – Brian Campbell is one of the most accomplished drivers in the
country and has proven that time and time again with over 40 major career
victories at tracks such as Bristol Motor Speedway, Lucas Oil Raceway, Toledo
Speedway and many more. Whenever his home track of Berlin Raceway in Marne,
Michigan has an event that the 34-year-old enters, he is automatically the one
to beat.
Building on
these major feats, Campbell and his KBR Development team are looking to venture
out and beyond the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast in an effort to compete in
some of the largest short track racing events throughout the United States. The
2013 season begins on Saturday, April 6th at a track where the Wyoming,
Michigan driver has visited victory lane once before; the 0.596 mile
high-banked paved oval of Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Nashville,
Tennessee for the Inaugural Southern Super Series event; the Music City 125.
“We’re very excited
to be going to Nashville, It’s one of my favorite tracks to go to,” Stated
Campbell. “I can’t wait to get back into the seat. We haven’t raced since the
Snowball Derby in December. There isn't much we didn't replace on the car. It
got wrecked bad there in Pensacola and we've been working on it ever since. We
had to front clip it, rear clip it, brand new engine, anything that matters on
this car was replaced.” He added.
After a
successful test at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio back on Friday, March 29th,
Campbell and his team went back to the KBR Race Shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan
to make final preparations before the nine-plus hour trek to the Volunteer
State. Back in 2008, Campbell would get to take home one of the coveted guitars
for winning an event in Nashville when he scored the ASA Late Model Challenge
Division portion of the All-American 400 weekend.
“We were very
happy with the car after the Toledo test. Nashville is very similar in a lot of
aspects so overall it was a good test,” Campbell continued. “Nashville is a
very fun and fast track, again similar to Toledo and just about everyone that
is racing there this weekend has seen the place once or twice over the years so
I don’t think that anyone has any sort of distinct advantage over anyone else,
except maybe for the weekly guys who will be there.” He stated.
After Nashville,
Campbell’s focus shifts to one of his favorite tracks on the schedule, the ½
(0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio for the first
ever ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour combined event; the 7-Up 150.
In 2012, when the race was an ARCA/CRA Super Series only event, Campbell
withstood several strong challenges from fellow West Michigan standout, Johnny
VanDoorn to score the victory.
In addition to a
slew of events within the ARCA/CRA Super Series, ARCA Midwest Tour and the
Southern Super Series during the 2013 racing season, Campbell will also make
several appearances in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet
Performance as well as at his home track of Berlin in the tracks’ Budweiser
Super Late Models Series for Template Bodied Super Late Models.
“This is going
to be a lot of fun this season with everywhere that we’re going. We tried to
plan as best as we could so that we’d hit most of the big shows that are around
us,” He remarked. “All I know is that this year is going to be crazy, hectic
and a lot of fun. Plus we’ll be home at Berlin quite a bit too. It’s always
nice to race in front of your family and friends.” Campbell ended.
It is at Berlin
where Campbell, the 2011 Coors Light Super Late Models Series Champion, is the
strongest as he is the only driver in the four year history of the Rowdy 251,
an ARCA/CRA Super Series sanctioned event featuring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
star, Kyle Busch to actually defeat Busch in the race as he was the winner in
the first edition of the event in 2009. Busch has since rallied to win the last
three events adorning his nickname.
Campbell started
his racing career at Berlin back in 2000 in the Super Stock Division and would
claim the Rookie of the Year honors. After spending time in both Template
Bodied and Outlaw Bodied Super Late Models, Campbell picked up the 2005 Rookie
of the Year honors in the ASA Late Model Challenge Series before claiming the
series Championship in 2009.
For the 2013
racing season, Campbell’s familiar white #20 KBR Development / Ford Fusion will
carry sponsorship decals on the side of his machine from McGunegill Engine
Performance as well as Port City Racecars, Penske Racing Shocks, Handy Wacks
Products and M.P.H. Promotions.
