Day I of the Hot Rod Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Mayhem Weekend Complete at I-96 Speedway

Lake Odessa, Michigan (Friday, July 8th, 2011): The first of two consecutive nights of the Hot Rod Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Mayhem Weekend took place at I-96 Speedway on Friday, July 8th. The Bikes and Riders of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) District 14 and Regional Flat Track Series invaded Lake Odessa, Michigan for the first of two shows in two days and a great field of riders and their bikes competed and treated the fans in the grandstands to a thrilling night of two-wheeled racing action.

Day II of the Hot Rod Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Mayhem Weekend is TOMORROW; Saturday, July 9th. As for the results for the AMA D14 and Regional Flat Track riders and teams on a beautiful Friday night (July 8th) on the 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked dirt oval, the big Feature Winners of the night amongst the 17 different divisions and 113 bikes were; Kyle Johnson who won two features as he picked up those wins in the 401-505cc A and 251-450cc Open Divisions.

Other Feature Winners included; Jeff Bullington - Vintage 401cc+ Open, Corey Desrosiers - Veteran 30+, Jacob Nichols - 0-51cc 4-8 years old, Noah Brinker - 0-51cc Multi-Speed, Natalie Brinker - 0-51cc Pee Wee Shaft Drive, Danny Oda - 401-505cc B, Lonnie Vanderpool - Seniors 40+, Calob Blain - 66-85cc 6-11 years old, Rick Hitchcock - 451cc+ Open Single, Merlyn Wertz - 251cc+ Open Twin, John Tejchma - Vintage 0-400cc, Gage Beland - 52-65cc 6-11 years old, Dean Young - Super Senior 50+, Koda Ronald - 201-250cc Open, and Tyler Hicks - Combo.

This was the third of five events to be held at I-96 during the 2011 racing season for the AMA District 14 and Regional riders. Day II of the Hot Rod Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Mayhem Weekend is TOMORROW; Saturday, July 9th as the AMA D14 and Regional stars and their bikes will move up to the big 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked dirt oval. For the AMA / I-96 Series Finale on Friday, July 22nd during Day II of the Auto First Michigan Festival of Speed, the riders and teams will race on the 3/8s mile.

For Day II of Motorcycle Mayhem Weekend, it's just $5.00 to get into the Grandstands! Pit Passes are $15.00. There's a $20.00 entry fee for riders per division they compete in. On Saturday, July 9th, all starting times are an hour earlier as the Pit Gates Open at 3:00p.m., the Grandstands Open at 5:00p.m. Practice starts at 6:00p.m., and Racing begins at 7:00p.m.

AMA District 14 is a non-profit organization based in Midland, Michigan that promotes all aspects of motorcycling including Flat Track Racing as well as Motocross, Hare Scrambles, Enduros, Ice Races, Hill Climbing, ATV Racing, and Road Racing.
