Sammy Epling and Doug Finley Motorsports Part Ways; Epling Looks to Regroup for the rest of 2011

Sammy Epling and Doug Finley Motorsports Part Ways; Epling Looks to Regroup for the rest of 2011

Perry, Michigan (Monday, June 20th, 2011): Sammy Epling, the 2010 Mt. Pleasant Speedway UMP Late Models Track Champion and a regular competitor in the Sunoco American Late Model Series and I-96 Speedway has announced that his team, SJE Motorsports has parted ways with Doug Finley Motorsports effective immediately.

After Five Wins and a Championship in one year and a few months into the 2011 racing season, SJE Motorsports and Doug Finley Motorsports, have decided to go their separate ways. "I don't really know why, or understand why Doug decided to park the car. We had a shaky start to the season and I guess during the Eldora Dream Weekend a decision was made." Epling said as he tried to explain the split.

"Eldora was one of the roughest weekends we've had as a team dating back to last year. We've had part malfunctions which were out of anyone's control. I'm just not sure." He continued, "Also with the traveling required with the Sunoco American Late Model Series, that may have been more then they had expected. I can't give you a reason. All I can say is I enjoyed my time there." Epling appreciatively added.

Epling's own team, SJE Motorsports will go back to the familiar #28 that he's ran with in the past and is targeting an early July return to action, although if everything comes together in a relatively short amount of time, Epling is tentatively looking at racing THIS Sunday, June 26th at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan for the UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour's only visit to the state of Michigan.

"We're just waiting for some parts to assemble the motor that we broke at Attica in the beginning of the year; otherwise, the car is ready to go! We're also working on another new motor so we'll be better prepared for the remainder of the season," The Perry, Michigan driver continued. "There's only two of us on the team now, myself and J.R. Smith, so we'll just take our time and make sure things are done right. Unless of course we can get some help to get everything together for the Hell Tour race at I-96. I regret that I'm missing out on some of the Sunoco ALMS Shows, but my goal is to be ready for the first weekend of July."

"I will have two quarter panels open if anyone would like to help out financially and have their name or names on the car. A Huge Thanks to my sponsors I do still have and everyone who does support me and is supporting me through this unpredictable time in the season. I will guarantee that SJE motorsports will be back and better than before." He ended.

Despite missing several shows of late, Epling is still sitting 10th in the Sunoco American Late Model Series Points Standings even with missing the last two events. In addition, he's 11th place in the points chase at I-96 Speedway and 11th as well at Mt. Pleasant Speedway.

Epling's #28 Mastersbilt Chassis UMP Late Model will carry sponsorship decals throughout the 2011 season from his own business; SJE Trucking as well as Shift Shop Transmissions, M.P.H. Promotions, and SJE Motorsports.
