Jeep Van Wormer Ramps Up for ALMS Tripleheader Following Fairbury Runner-Up Finish!
(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team traveled to the Land of Lincoln over the May 20-22 weekend for a huge tripleheader. On Friday night, the American Late Model Series (ALMS) sanctioned a $2,000 to win program at the Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois. Jeep won his heat race in preliminary action and later rolled off fourth on the grid in the 40-lap main event. Fighting an ill-handling racecar throughout the A-Main, Jeep wound up a disappointing eleventh in the final rundown.
After switching cars for Saturday's $2,000 to win ALMS / Northern Allstars Late Model Series co-sanctioned battle at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, Jeep once again won his heat race to earn the pole position for the feature event. The Pinconning, Michigan native stayed towards the front of the stout field throughout the race and eventually scored a stellar runner-up effort behind only winner Jason Feger. Sunday's $2,000 to win Northern Allstars Late Model Series weekend finale at the Shepp's Speedway in Alexander, Illinois was unfortunately washed out by Mother Nature. Another trio of races will greet the Iron Motorsports team over the ultra-busy Memorial Day holiday weekend. Jeep plans to enter three $2,000 to win American Late Model Series (ALMS) showdowns from May 27-29 in the states of Michigan and Ohio. The Mount Pleasant Speedway in Mount Pleasant, Michigan will kick things off on Friday, while the action will quickly turn to the Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio on Saturday. The tripleheader will then conclude for the #55 team on Sunday at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
