Driver Salutes: Mark Anderson, Phil Bozell among opening statewide winners

Mark Anderson, Lowell
Anderson powered his way to victory in Saturday’s Modified feature at Winston Motor Speedway in Rothbury, beating out Brian Ruhlman in the season opener.

Phil Bozell, Portage
Bozell won Kalamazoo Speedway’s season-opening Intimidator 100 Super Late Model race Saturday night. Bozell outran Scott Hantz by 4.68 seconds.

Brian Campbell, Wyoming
Campbell took the lead on lap 18 and went on to win Saturday night’s VR-12 Easter Bunny 100 at Toledo Speedway, taking top honors in the JEGS/CRA All Star Tours inaugural race.

Chris Stearns, Davison
The 22-year-old Modified racer took the lead with eight laps to go and went on to win Saturday night’s 40-lap feature race at Auto City Speedway in Flint.

Brian Wiersma, Coopersville
The five-time Berlin Raceway Super Stocks track champion opened the 2011 season by winning Saturday night’s 30-lap feature.
