Crystal Motor Speedway Storyline August 21st

August 21st 2010 Results!

A brief shower almost dampened events Saturday night at Crystal Motor Speedway but the track staff quickly got the track into shape and ready to go. The Michigan Legends were on hand and Louie Rouster took their feature with Tony Monge second. The Steeple race winner was Rick Barrett of Lakeshore Vineyard, Holland, MI.
The Smokers Club of Mt Pleasant Street Stocks was the first group on the feature menu and Larry Bulson jumped out to an early lead over the field. Anthony Carlton got loose coming out of turn four and was immediately hit by the division points leaders, Jasen Wiley and Mike Vandermark Jr. Wiley pulled off from damage received but Vandermark was able to continue. Doug Helsel began to pull close to the leader and looked under him a couple times before making the pass coming out of turn four. James Prochaska tried to pull along side Helsel but fell back. Mean time Vandermark took to the high side and ran it to the front of the pack and took the lead at the white flag and went on to win the feature after starting at the very back of the field. Helsel was second, followed by Prochazka, Bulson, Kyle Prochazka, Jeff Hitsman, Zach Hoyt, Al Kiester, Caden Foster, and Brooke Ann Brasington. Shane Spencer and Helsel claimed heat wins.

The Kentucky Fried Chicken sponsored Late Model event got off to a shaky start when John Hoard spun in front of the entire pack, bringing out the yellow. Kyle Borgman jumped out front over CJ Reisbig, Mickey Carman Jr, and Carl Ries. Borgman maintained a comfortable lead but Ries began to slowly reel him in. Carman suffered a mechanical failure, bunching the field up. Justin McNeil started third on the restart but wasted no time in passing both Ries and Borgman for the lead. Dean Huizenga moved into second with Roger Wing and Matt Pickard moving into the top five. Wing passed Ries for third while McNeil cruised alone out front. Wing looked several times to slide under Huizenga and did so with one lap to go. McNeil held on to win his first feature of 2010 over Wing, Huizenga, Ries, Pickard, Reisbig, Tom Dusen, Keith Gentz, Jay Van Dyke, and Kurt Mesman. Reisbig and Borgman scored heat gold.

Taylor Daniels grabbed the early lead in the Races On The Web Flinn Stock feature event with Cory Burch, Austin Bean, and Richard Melton following. Burch came charging forward and the front two ran side by side for three laps before Daniels took control again. Bean and Burch started a fight for second which allowed Daniels to move out front and take the win. Burch, Melton, Bean, Chance Allen, Chris DeCamp, Zach Rummer, Ryan Paradise, Neil Zeigler, and Matt Kammers. Daniels doubled up and also won his heat.

The Port City Racing Pro Stocks took to the track and Rod Heikkila took the lead over Derek Schestag, Cory Skoog, Ryan Kent, and Mike Husted. Heikkila held a small lead but developed a flat time, handing the lead over to Schestag. Kent made his way forward and took the lead, leaving Schestag to battle with Chaney Newland for second. With five to go, a tremendous fight for the lead developed with Schestag taking the lead back from Kent and Newland just inches behind. Newland took second coming into the white flag and ran side by side with Schestag coming down the back stretch when a caution came out, leaving all three drivers to fight it out in a one lap shoot out. When the final flag fell, Newland jumped out to a strong lead and ultimately the win over Kent, Schestag, Barry Rinard, Gordon Snyder, Vern Buskirk, Jacob Headley, Todd Bush, Gary Buskirk, and Bret Hollenbeck. Heikkila and Buskirk put heat wins in the books.

The Engine Pro IMCA Modifieds were next to do battle and an early caution bunched the field after just a lap. Ken Zeigler grabbed the lead with Jerry Hunt following. Chad Wernette and Brody Bowser were side by side as they fought for third. Another caution took out the leader when his rear end locked up, handing the lead over to Bowser with Wernette behind him. On the restart, Joe Fowler split the front two and took over the lead. Johnny DeYoung and AJ Ward broke into the top five. Fowler was able to coast home to win the feature over Wernette, Ward, Bowser, Brennen Bowen, Johnny DeYoung, Greg Wiles, Clifford Denman, Josh Borton, and Rusty Zeigler. Denman and JR Schmidt grabbed B Main wins while heats fell to Dan Minikey Jr, Neil Siefker, and Rusty Zeigler.

Gary Dancer cruised out to the early lead in the Port City Racing Pro Trucks with Gaven Parks, Aaron Raby, Tim Sooy, and Scott Nieman following. Dancer continued to lead at the half way point with Raby tight behind. Dancer, Raby, and Neiman came out of turn four three wide with Neiman and Dancer making heavy contact, sending both of them to the tail of the field. Dancer fell out with mechanical problems before the race resumed. Raby assumed the lead when the green flew with Sooy second and Tim Wood tight behind. With one to go, Raby held his line tight and went onto to win over Sooy, Dave Peters, Neiman, Woods, Brady Hollenbeck, Joe Neiman, Carl Thayer, Parks, and Gary Dancer. Dancer and Sooy brought home heat victories.
