LAKE ODESSA -- World Of Outlaws standout Jason Meyers is tough to beat just about everywhere he races, but when it comes to the I-96 Speedway, he is unbeatable.

Meyers won Saturday night’s 30-lap feature race before nearly 6,000 fans at the dirt half-mile, giving him his second consecutive win at I-96. He took top honors when the circuit visited I-96 a year ago.

Meyers took over the lead with six laps to go when leader Danny Lasoski went over the backstretch. Meyers then held off Craig Dolansky and Jason Sides for his series-high sixth win of the season and $10,000.

“This place has been really good to us,” said Meyers, a native of Clovis, Calif. “To have a great crowd like we had here tonight, and it was a great race track and we had a couple of grooves.

“I wasn’t very good on my restarts, but I finally got it figured out right there at the end. I had a great race car again tonight. There are so many people who make this happen.”

Racing was delayed for about 45 minutes after a bird flew into the first-turn lights and caused them to blow out. Portable backup lights were hauled in and set up on the inner part of the track so racing could resume.

The Outlaws were making its only Michigan appearance of the season, and 34 cars qualified. Joey Saldana set fast time and the track record with a lap of 14.83 seconds at 121.343 mph, breaking Steve Kinser's mark of 15.09 seconds from 2008.

Heat winners were Kraig Kinser, Jac Haudenschild, Donny Schatz and Jason Sides.
