For Immediate Release:
6-8-09 GRAND RAPIDS, MI.
Saturday June 6th found Todd Cowan racing the #16 Action Mold & Machining UMP modified racecar at the Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, MI. The night found 22 cars vying for the prize of becoming the Paul Bouwman Memorial race winner. Todd competed in the first of 3 heat races for the UMP Modifieds. Todd started on the outside of the first row next to fellow Grand Rapids, MI. driver and Stealth chassis pilot Brian Roark. Roark let the field to green but by turn one Todd had the lead and never looked back. Todd led the entire heat race and won easily over a stellar field of cars including last years track and state champion in the division. The feature had Todd starting 8th in the 22 car starting order. Shortly after the drop of the green Todd slowed to miss two cars tangling. During this sequence another driver hit Todd’s rear bumper spinning him around in front of most of the 22 car field. The #16 car got struck many times by cars trying to miss. Though Todd and the #16 Action Mold & Machining car were able to continue after the crash the performance was gone from the car due to damage. Todd limped the car home to a 17th place finish in the feature. When asked about the night of racing Todd had this to say; “I was pleased with the performance of the car. It is always great to win a race and I know we are going to win some more races this year. I just wish I could have raced with everyone in the feature; I guess that’s just how racing is sometimes.”
Todd will be back in competition in the #16 Action Mold and Machining car on June 20th. Todd was scheduled to race on June 13th but there has been a schedule change. Check http://www.todd.racesontheweb.com/ for all Todd Cowan racing news and schedules.
