Taken at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in February by Steve Borodkin from Gilbert AZFormer Muskegon resident Mike Garvey will attempt to race his way into the Nascar Sprint Cup All-Star race Saturday night. Him and 35 other drivers will be vying for a spot through the running of a Showdown race.
Garvey has raced at about every short track in the United States.
In the early to late 80's Garvey raced locally at Berlin, Thunderbird and Winston. He later became a Champion in the Nascar Slim Jim Series and a star in the ASA and Hooters Cup Series. He also is one of only three drivers who have won the All-American 400 at Nashville fairgrounds more than one time.
Garvey will be racing the #73 Quality Concrete Dodge.
