Poel Claims Fifth Win of 2014 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals at Tri-State Speedway

HAUBSTADT, Ind. — July 6, 2014 — Bumping and banging was common Sunday night at Tri-State Speedway as Jacob Poel outdueled Zach Fair and Tyler Nicely to claim his fifth DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals victory of season.

Defending champion Mike Harrison captured the pole-position for the 25-lap feature event, with Poel starting to his outside. The two front-row starters remained side-by-side as they battled for the lead on the opening two circuits, with Poel barely edging Harrison to lead both laps.

Harrison secured the top spot exiting turn two on the third lap, sliding right in front of Poel and making contact as he cleared the Michigan native. Harrison controlled the lead for the next 14 laps, keeping his car glued to the bottom of the race track while holding off the high-line running Poel.

Harrison built an early lead and was on his way to his seventh victory of the season, until his car broke entering turn one on lap 17, ending his night early and handing the lead back to Poel.
Zach Fair and a hard-charging Tyler Nicely kept the new leader from easily coasting to his fifth win of the season, as they challenged Poel for the lead in almost every corner. Fair took multiple shots at the leader, coming just short of grabbing the lead, before being bumped out of the way for second by Nicely.

Nicely, after clearing Fair, dove his car to the inside of Poel to challenge for the lead with just two laps to go. The two leaders made contact exiting turn four to take the white-flag as Nicely was just inches from clearing Poel for the lead. Nicely tried everything he could to jar the lead from Poel on the final lap, but the leader was too strong on the outside, leading the races final nine laps to claim the $1,000 checkered flag at Tri-State Speedway.

Fair, Trent Young and Stephen Schnaphf rounded out the top five.
Heat race winners were Rocky Wilson, Jacob Poel, Stephen Schnaphf and Tyler Nicely.

Garvey Wins at Revolution Park in Louisiana

NASCAR driver runs at Revolution Park

Wow! Is all you can say about the racing at Revolution Park. The racing was everything but boring, which kept fans on the edge of their seats. Folks say money talks and yes it does. The Bumper to Bumper Late Models had 15 cars present all trying to win the top prize of $5,000. Drivers came from Florida, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. NASCAR truck and nationwide driver Mike Garvey was even present bringing his talent for a chance at the win.

After some great pre-race activities including live music, RC moved out with the pace car provided by David’s Mobile Detail, Wash, and Powerwashing, safety crew in place, Justice Wrecker in place, and the cars lined up for racing action.

The 25-laps qualifying race for the Bumper to Bumper Pro Late Models started the night off. No. 7 Kody Brusso, No. 2 Brent McGee, No.8 Brandon Kent, No. 1 Mike Garvey and No.14 Chris Davidson were all in the top mix of cars. As they came around for the checkered flag and it was Garvey, Davidson, Kent, and Brusso.

Bandoleros were out next and it was No. 09 Dawson Moore, No. 48 Gabbie Dubeau, and No. 84 Levi Dubeau battling it out. Dubeau was out front for the whole caution-free race and brought it home for the win. She was followed by Levi and Dawson.

Up next were the Compacts. No. K9 Kyle Kulp and No. 41 Austin Wright began to pull away from the rest of the pack until the caution came out. On the restart No. 511 Kory Kulp jumped out front and soon pulled away from the pack. As the checkered flag fell it was Austin, Kory, and Kyle.

The Thunderstocks were out next with No. 10 Tommy Murphy, No. X1 Jerry McMaster and No. 26 Hunter Street battling it out. McMaster and Street were running hard bumper to bumper. As they came around for the final lap McMaster and Street got tangled together and smoke filled the air. Then coming thru the smoke and the win was Murphy followed by Carpenter and McMaster.

Next up were the fast and furious Legends as twenty cars rolled onto the track. No. 8 Shane McGee, No. 308B Ethan McMillon, No. A1 Chris Freeland, No. 50 Michael Dabney, and No. 7 Hunter Lewis were putting on a show in this three caution flags race. Dabney pretty much led the whole race and had some stiff competition from Lewis. When the checkered flag fell it was Dabney, Lewis, and McMillon.

Closing out the night was the Bumper to Bumper Pro Late Models Firecracker 50. No. 1 Mike Garvey jumped out front in this one and was the one to beat. No. 8 Brandon Kent, No. 7 Kody Brusso, No. 115 Ryan Humphrey, and No. 14 Chris Davidson were all in the top mix as fifteen cars battled. Kent and Brusso were running hard against each other and on the final lap as they came across the finish line Brusso edged out Kent by mere inches. The winner of the $5,000 top prize went to Garvey. He was followed by Davidson, Brusso, and Kent.

The “Rev” will be taking off during the month of July allowing drivers and fans a break from having to be out in the hot weather. The next race will be on Saturday, Aug. 9. Running that day will be the Bandos, Legends, Thunderstocks, Factory Stocks, Compacts, and the Bumper to Bumper Late Models.

Poel Captures Fourth Victory of 2014 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Season at Lincoln Speedway

LINCOLN, Ill. - June 29, 2014 - One night after Mike Harrison tied his 2014 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals win total at three, Jacob Poel responded Sundaynight by passing Harrison on the final lap to claim his fourth victory of the season at Lincoln Speedway.

Nick Hoffman, of Mooresville, NC, and Mike Harrison occupied the front row, with Jacob Poel starting right behind them in the third position. Hoffman and Harrison battled for the lead on the opening lap, with Harrison eventually securing the top spot.

Harrison had the car to beat as he held off challenges from Hoffman, Poel, and T.D Burger in the early laps of the 25-lap feature event. Harrison built a comfortable lead on the rest of the field with the action heating up for the second position where Poel, Hoffman and Burger battled for the majority of the race. Harrison looked to close out the weekend with back-to-back victories, but a late-race caution with four laps remaining changed that outcome.

On the final restart, the leader kept his car glued to the bottom, holding off a challenge from Burger. Poel took advantage of the front two cars battling for the lead, as he made his move to the outside lane and powered around Burger for second with three laps remaining. Poel drove his car deeper and deeper into the corners trying to catch Harrison, finally getting to his outside going into turn one on the final lap.
Harrison edged Poel heading into the final turn, but the outside line would prove to be valuable for Poel as he pulled even with Harrison exiting turn four. The two drivers hit the front stretch nose-to-nose with Poel claiming the $1,000 checkered flag in the first photo finish of the 2014 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals season.

"I was really just trying to put a show on," said Poel who won by .05 of a second. "I didn't even know or not if I won there at the end, it was so close. They must've had to go back to the transponders."

Burger, Hoffman, and Jeff Curl rounded out the top five.

Poel Captures Third DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Victory at I-96 Speedway

LAKE ODESSA, Mich. - June 22, 2014 - Jacob Poel continued his great start to the 2014 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals, capturing his third win in six raceson Sunday night at I-96 Speedway.

Poel came into the night sitting third in the point standings behind Matt Goulden and Jeff Curl, after missing the previous race at Tri-City Speedway. With Goulden and Curl not at I-96, Poel had a good shot at regaining some of the points he lost after missing the race two nights before.

Sunday consisted of two local stars, Poel of Spring Lake, Mich., and Chad Bauer, of Farewell, Mich., battling for the top spot early. Bauer secured the lead at the drop of the green-flag and led the opening four laps of the 25-lap main event, before Poel powered around him on lap 5.

Poel was too fast for Bauer to handle as he stretched out to a 2.15-second lead by the end of the race. Bauer's car dropped back through the field after losing second to Travis Stemler, resulting in an eighth place finish. Poel led the remaining 21 laps en route to capturing the $1,000 checkered flag, his third in just two weeks of the six week-long tour.

Collin Thirlby, David Mielke, and Tim Stemler rounded out the top five.
